Danny Sankar

Danny Sankar loves soccer and has played it for close to 50 years. As a kid and teenager, he played rep soccer in Oakville, Ontario, Canada before moving on to NCAA Division 1 Soccer at Dartmouth College. Danny had a successful college career, playing on the varsity team for 4 years and winning 2 Ivy League titles. It was highlighted by All-Ivy and All-American honours in his senior year. Danny’s career continued with many years of semi-professional and professional ball, followed by many more years of recreational soccer and seventeen more years of masters soccer, which continues to this day.  Danny has watched many many games, at all levels, including most of all the major tournaments for the last four decades, both club and country. He has taken and passed coaching courses and referee courses.

As a kid and teenager, Danny excelled in school, especially in science and mathematics. Beginning in university at Dartmouth, he became a student of writing and carried this mission right through his Dartmouth years into graduate school. Danny completed two masters degrees – a master of arts degree in sports psychology and a master of education degree in counselling psychology and also just kept writing and writing, mostly blogging about current events, but with a mission to slip in timeless phrases and intelligent turns of phrase to delight readers for time to come.

For the past many decades, he has dedicated his life to writing about soccer and sports, culminating in this incredible series of books called… The Eleven Books of Football.
